HVAC Assistant Project Manager

HVAC Assistant Project Manager – Commercial Construction Projects ($200K–$20M) ATMAC Mechanical is seeking a highly organized and driven HVAC Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support commercial projects ranging from a few hundred thousand up to $20 million. The APM will be instrumental in planning, scheduling, and facilitating project execution—not installation—while ensuring meticulous documentation and communication with our Customers and our Team. Role Overview This position supports the Project Manager and General Superintendent in keeping projects on track and organized. The APM works directly with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and schedule coordination. This is a key administrative and logistical role that requires strong attention to detail and a proactive mindset. Responsibilities • Collaborate with the Project Manager and the General Superintendent to plan project timelines, track milestones, and align schedules • Coordinate with the General Superintendent, subcontractors, and vendors on logistics and documentation needs • Process and manage project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, meeting minutes, and field reports • Maintain organized records across multiple concurrent projects • Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and team members • Monitor progress against schedules and assist with updates and reporting • Support problem-solving by keeping the team informed and prepared Qualifications • Minimum 2 years’ experience in HVAC or commercial construction project coordination • Understanding of HVAC systems including RTUs and terminology; field installation experience not required • Familiarity with project management platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office • Strong skills in record-keeping, scheduling, and communication • Ability to read plans, specs, and technical drawings • Knowledge of construction safety practices and OSHA standards • Valid driver’s license and willingness to visit project sites as needed • Strong learning orientation with a commitment to OJT development Preferred Attributes • Exposure to HVAC systems like chillers, boilers, VAVs, and RTUs • Understanding of building codes and commercial construction documentation • Some college-level coursework in construction management or HVAC-related fields Benefits • Competitive salary based on experience • Health and dental insurance coverage • Paid time off and company holidays • Career development and promotion opportunities How to Apply Send your resume and a brief cover letter to ATMAC Mechanical | Work with ATMAC with the subject line:HVAC Assistant Project Manager Application.
