Role Summary
CG Heating and Cooling is seeking an experienced and EPA-certifiedLead HVAC Field Technicianto support our utility rebate projects in the Austin area. This role is ideal for HVAC professionals with strong field experience who are ready to lead job site operations and ensure high-quality, efficient delivery of HVAC upgrades under regional energy efficiency programs.
The Lead Technician will take ownership of field execution—including diagnostics, system assessments, team guidance, and quality control—on projects aligned with the City of Austin's energy rebate initiatives and beyond. You will serve as the technical point person on site, working closely with both internal helpers and external stakeholders to maintain timelines and ensure rebate compliance.
This is a high-responsibility, growth-focused role with potential for advancement into Field Management or QA/QC positions.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform field assessments, system inspections, and diagnostics as part of the rebate upgrade process.
• Install and commission HVAC components with support from the Field Helper.
• Ensure compliance with rebate program technical requirements, including detailed documentation and photo verification.
• Serve as the on-site lead and mentor for junior field staff.
• Communicate effectively with the field supervisor and office staff regarding job status, issues, and follow-ups.
• Interface with property managers and tenants professionally to coordinate access and communicate scope of work.
• Use tools, gauges, and meters to verify system performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Ensure safety and code compliance on all job sites.
• Support inventory tracking and restocking efforts with field coordinators.
Qualifications
• EPA Certification (required).
• Minimum2–3 years of hands-on HVAC experience, with at least 1 year in a lead or independently responsible role.
• Ability to perform diagnostics and minor repairs on residential HVAC systems.
• Familiarity with duct sealing, airflow balancing, and refrigerant handling.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Strong time management and communication skills.
• Able to lift 50+ lbs, work in confined spaces, and climb ladders as needed.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
Pay & Benefits
• Hourly Rate:$21–$25/hour based on experience, certifications, and leadership capabilities.
