Job Description
The HVAC Supervisor (Working Supervisor) is responsible for leading, coordinating, and performing HVAC service, maintenance, and installation projects across commercial and residential sites. This role combines hands-on field work with team leadership and project oversight, ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to company and NYC code standards. The ideal candidate is a skilled HVAC mechanic with strong leadership abilities, a customer-first mindset, and the ability to balance tools-in-hand work with supervisory duties
Key Responsibilities
• Lead a team of HVAC technicians and apprentices on installation, repair, and maintenance projects.
• Assign daily tasks, review job progress, and ensure quality workmanship across all sites.
• Conduct field training and ride-alongs to support technician development.
• Act as the main point of contact for the Dispatch and Operations teams regarding daily scheduling and job flow.
• Monitor field performance, enforce company policies, and promote adherence to safety and operational standards.
• Perform HVAC troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance.
• Support the team on complex technical issues and assist in completing time-sensitive or large-scale jobs.
• Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with NYC building codes and manufacturer specifications.
• Ensure that all installations are completed neatly, efficiently, and professionally.
Project & Administrative Responsibilities
• Review work orders, labor hours, and materials used in ServiceTitan (or similar field software).
• Communicate job updates, delays, and customer feedback to management.
• Maintain tools, vehicles, and job materials in an organized and professional manner.
• Provide estimates, material lists, and scope of work recommendations when needed.
• Work closely with Project Managers to ensure projects stay within budget and timeline.
• Enforce and uphold OSHA and NYC Department of Buildings safety regulations.
• Ensure proper permitting, inspections, and documentation for all HVAC-related work.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant work environment for all team members.
Qualifications
• Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on HVAC experience in installation, repair, and maintenance.
• At least 5 years of supervisory or lead technician experience.
• Strong understanding of commercial and residential systems, including split units, VRF/VRV, rooftop units, and control systems.
• EPA Universal Certification required.
• NYC refrigeration license preferred (or ability to obtain).
• Experience using Service Titan or other field management platforms a plus.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Salary: $75,000-$120,000
