The HVAC Technician is responsible for identifying repair and/or replacement needs, installing, repairing, and maintaining the Countyโs HVAC Systems and equipment.About UsAs the landlord for all facilities owned by Maricopa County, the Facilities Management Department is responsible for the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operations of more than 200 facilities, comprised of over 10 million square feet. Facilities Management is made up of a collaborative team that provides and performs various functions to meet the facility-related needs of all Maricopa County Departments. This defined retirement benefit requires a 12% monthly contribution rate and includes a 100% employer match on Day 1Learn more at Work With Us | Maricopa County, AZWe RequireHigh school diploma or GEDThree years of journey-level experience in troubleshooting and repair of commercial/industrial air conditioning systemsCompletion of an apprenticeship program or vocational education in HVAC may substitute for one year of the experience requirementMust possess an EPA or Universal EPA certificationMust complete a Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) and MCSO background investigation and TOC certification to access County detention facilitiesMust possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driverโs license by the time of hireWe Also ValueFive years of experience troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems within an institutional, industrial, or heavy commercial environmentExperience with Maximo or related project management software productsJob ContributionsTroubleshoot, repair, install, and replace air dryers, computer room A/C, makeup air units, split package A/C & HP, VAV, VFD, pumps, chillers, air handlers, cooling towers, air wash systems, evaporative coolers, steam and hot water boilers, air compressors, exhaust fans, and gas furnacesTroubleshoot, monitor, operate, and repair computerized and pneumatic facilities automation controls, negative pressure rooms, ductwork and dampers, generator and refrigerant alarmsPerform preventative maintenance tasks on the following systems, air conditioners, heat pumps, gas furnaces, pumps, steam, and hot water boilers, cooling towers, air wash systems, evaporative coolers, air compressors, exhaust fans, blowers, VAV and VFDs, computer room A/C, air dryers; to include water treatment, air-water filters, balancing, alignment, inspection and measurement and cleaning of above systemsRespond to repair and service calls, emergency work orders, and maintain verbal communications with clients, field technicians, and management staff on emergency calls; monitor and control temperatures utilizing the Facilities Automation System computerOperate computers and mobile devices for time management, inventory, work assignments, and other related functionsOther job duties as assignedWorking ConditionsExerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 10 - 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 - 20 pounds constantlyIncumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures, wetness/humidity, respiratory hazards, and noise and vibrationIncumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travelThe work will occur in an office and field environment.
