IAM Technical Lead / Architect

Position Title:IAM Technical Lead / Architect Location:Richmond, VA (Remote) Clearance Requirements:None Position Status:Contract Pay Rate:$62/hr - 65/hr on W2 Position Description: We are seeking an experiencedIAM Technical Lead/Architectto drive the design, development, and integration of enterprise identity and access management solutions. In this role, you will lead cross-functional projects, modernize authentication systems, and architect secure IAM solutions that supportSSO, MFA, conditional access, and Zero Trust principles. You will act as a subject matter expert, mentor engineers, and collaborate closely with application, security, and compliance teams to ensure resilient and scalable identity services across the organization. Key Responsibilities: • Lead enterprise IAM integration projects across diverse applications, systems, and technologies. • Architect and implement IAM solutions withSSO, MFA, conditional access, and Zero Trust frameworks. • Design and maintain secure RESTful APIs for cross-platform integration. • Guide teams in migrating from legacy authentication tomodern standards (OIDC, OAuth2, SAML, SCIM). • Monitor IAM platform performance, troubleshoot integration challenges, and ensure operational resilience. • Partner with security and compliance teams to enforce governance and regulatory controls. • Serve as IAM subject matter expert, providing mentorship to engineers and administrators. • Track and recommend IAM platform enhancements (Microsoft Entra ID, Okta). Required Skills & Education: • 10+ yearsin software development, including architecture/design;3+ yearsin a technical leadership role. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. • Strong expertise inJavaand related frameworks, with proficiency in multiple programming languages. • Hands-on experience withIAM platforms(Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, or equivalent). • Deep knowledge of authentication protocols (OIDC, OAuth2, SAML, SCIM). • Proven experience migrating from legacy authentication systems to modern IAM solutions. • Experience withcloud platforms(Azure, AWS, GCP) and cloud-native best practices. • Agile/Scrum experience with strong collaboration and communication skills. • Solid problem-solving abilities and knowledge of secure coding practices. Preferred Qualifications: • 12+ yearsin enterprise software development and design, with5+ yearsleading cross-functional teams. • Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field. • Proven experience architectingscalable IAM solutionsaligned with Zero Trust. • Familiarity withActive Directoryintegrations. • Strong background inmicroservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and CI/CD pipelines. • Hands-on expertise with bothfront-end and back-endtechnologies. • Industry certifications (Java, Spring, React, Angular, Agile/Scrum). • Working knowledge ofrelational and NoSQL databases. • Strong cybersecurity knowledge and proactive security integration experience.
