In this role you'll work in one of our IBM Consulting Client Innovation Centers (Delivery Centers) where we deliver deep technical and industry expertise to a wide range of public and private sector clients around the world. Our delivery centers offer our clients locally based skills and technical expertise to drive innovation and adoption of new technology.
The SAP FI Consultant Intern will support the SAP FI team in system configuration testing documentation and user support for financial processes including General Ledger (GL) Accounts Payable (AP) Accounts Receivable (AR) and Asset Accounting (AA). The intern will learn fundamental consulting skills while contributing to ongoing projects and daily support activities.
Key Responsibilities
A. System Support and Maintenance
Troubleshooting Assistance: Help resolve basic SAP FI issues reported by end-users escalating complex issues to senior consultants.
Data Management: Assist with financial data maintenance tasks including mass uploads and updates ensuring data integrity within the SAP system.
User Documentation: Help create update and maintain training materials quick reference guides and system documentation for new configurations or process changes.
B. Configuration and Development Support
Configuration Practice: Under supervision practice basic configuration tasks in a training or sandbox environment focusing on areas like defining Chart of Accounts setting up tolerance groups and establishing posting keys.
Testing Support: Participate in unit testing integration testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) for new functionalities or system upgrades. This includes executing test scripts and documenting results accurately.
Blueprint Review: Assist in reviewing functional specifications business process documents and project blueprints to understand the 'as-is' and 'to-be' scenarios.
C. Financial Process Learning
Process Analysis: Learn and document core financial processes within SAP FI (e.g. Procure-to-Pay process flow for AP Order-to-Cash process flow for AR).
Reporting: Assist in generating and analyzing standard SAP FI reports to support month-end closing activities or specific business needs.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance Accounting Information Technology or a related field.
Basic understanding of core accounting principles (General Ledger Balance Sheet Income Statement).
Prior exposure to any ERP system (SAP preferred but not mandatory).
Strong analytical organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance Accounting Information Technology.
