HDR Engineering is looking for a Power Program Leader to drive the success or our power program throughout the Idaho area. This position will be based in our Boise office.
Primary Responsibilities
The Power Program Leader is expected to grow the power practice through effective business development strategies involving identification of viable pursuits, and development of effective capture strategies to win those pursuits through strategic teaming, client engagement, project staffing, mobilization of key resources, and innovative delivery approaches. The individual will be the face of HDR to the Power industry in Idaho and is expected to develop, recruit and assist with management of staff involved in the planning and design of power delivery, power generation, hydropower and renewable initiatives. This individual will also participate in the advancement of regional, national and global HDR power initiatives as his or her skillsets and experience can add value. Additional duties will include:
- Drive growth of the power market sector in Idaho through client development and management and coordination with HDR regional and national resources leadership and area operations management
- Manage activities with clients to deliver quality Promote and conduct branding of HDR to the industry and client community; serve as the face of HDR to client staff.
- Manage projects and tasks. Serve as a project director or project manager for key power projects or contribute in a support role as appropriate.
- Work on select key projects and provide technical expertise to direct tasks, provide quality control reviews, and oversight as needed.
- Oversee, guide and support Power teams and staff in Idaho, coordinating closely with regional and local operations leaders, to grow HDR's power market in Idaho.
- Establish/foster teaming relationships with other consulting firms, and collaborate with peers internally across HDR.
- Work with project managers, project accountants, and sector leadership to perform project reviews, set performance goals, and deliver quality projects.
- Implement and champion Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures on power projects.
- Work with HDR counterparts to develop strategies for: key hires, project pursuits, team growth, area growth and profitability, employee engagement and satisfaction.

Required Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of cumulative relevant design or owner's engineer experience in hydropower, power delivery, power generation or renewables projects and programs.
- Excellent client management skills, marketing, and business development skills in addition to contacts/relationships with power clients.
- Previous experience managing staff, clients, contracts and hiring staff for an engineering consulting firm.
- Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams, regional, department, technical managers and project staff
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference given to local candidates.
- Professional registration (PE or PMP) a plus.
