Imaging Roll Fed Operator (Ink Jet) - (3rd Shift)

Summary:
We are looking for a motivated operator to run our Ink Jet Printers. The Ink Jet Operator is responsible for printing static and variable documents either roll to roll or roll to book blocks. He/She will work safely at all times to provide our clients with high quality documents in a timely manner.
Schedule:
3rd Shift: 7pm to 7am. (4Star) - Two-week rotation:
Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, (Saturday OT Day)
Overtime required as/when needed. Extended schedule during peak periods included one to two extra days per week.
Responsibilities:

• Operate high resolution, variable print proprietary ink jet imaging equipment.
• Program and prepare jobs for printing.
• Maintain daily print production logs.
• Setup, program, and release jobs from the print queue.
• Adjust image position, maintain color quality, print resolution, and fold position on paper.
• Monitor quality of job output.
• Material handling of product required which includes piling down of printed books.
• Maintain inventory level of consumables, such as ink, print heads, web wipe cassettes, and paper.
• Will be required to run two inkjet printers at the same time when volume is high.
• Work closely with production, coordinators, stitcher operators and other departments.

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Offset, digital and/or inkjet printing including, set up, adjustments, operating procedures, and the corresponding level of skill to perform such tasks.
• Able to perform arithmetic, algebraic and geometric procedures in standard practical applications.
• Able to read and interpret work instructions.
• Ability to use maintenance shop tools and equipment along with interpreting methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work.
• Able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written communication, using proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
• Able to work alone or in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:
The ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Frequently lift 5 to 10 pounds of press pasted book blocks throughout the entire shift. Standing, sitting kneeling occasionally (1/3 of the time).
Preferred Skills:

• Ability to diagnose and solve problems affecting the quality and timeliness of products and services.
• Knowledge of color theory and ability to make color adjustments when operating equipment to meet customer specifications.
• Knowledge of file manipulation and file formats for digital print.
• Knowledge and ability to set up feed rollers, tensioning, timing, and in-line finishing per job specifications.
• Ability to make corrective adjustments when performance requires the operator to consider the symptoms along with the potential causes and remedies.
