Summary
This position is located at the 136th AW, Federal Medical Center Carswell, Fort Worth, TX. The primary purpose of this position is to oversee various complex IG activities, develops policy, and advises the Wing IG on effectively implementing The Inspection System, to include the Commanders' Inspection Programs (CCIP), as well as the Complaints Resolution, and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA) Programs.
Texas is one of 9 states with NO state income tax.

Appointment Factor(s): This is an Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible military assignment in the Texas National Guard and wear of the military uniform.
Areas of Consideration: Nationwide. This includes:
- All currently employed full-time permanent, temporary indefinite and temporary personnel of the Texas National Guard,
- All current members of the Texas National Guard, and
- All individuals eligible and willing to join the Texas National Guard.
Remarks:
- This is an indefinite excepted position; acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Indefinite appointments are used when there is a need for a temporary position to extend beyond one year or management expects the position to become permanent at some time in the future. Competitive procedures must be used when filling a position on an indefinite basis.
- National Guard membership is required.
- This is a supervisory position.
- Requires a secret security clearance; the incumbent of this position must obtain and maintain a secret clearance. Work may require access to higher classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- Incumbent must complete the wing Inspector General Training Course Inspections (IGTC-I) within 180 days of appointment; must complete Inspector General Training Course Complaints Resolution (IGTC-Q) within 180 days of appointment; and IG appointees for nuclear-capable units will complete the USAF Nuclear Inspector Course within 180 days of assignment. Successful completion of other courses will be accomplished IAW applicable DoD, AF, and National Guard Bureau regulations. Recommend completion of the NGB/IG Advanced Course within one year of appointment.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience Required:
To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must have 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 which includes the ability to overcome obstacles to gather and interpret evidence; ability to recognize and resolve discrepancies and/or inconsistencies among findings. AND Skill in conducting inspections and investigations where significant difficulties are encountered. AND Knowledge to develop new approaches, methods, or procedures in data gathering and analysis techniques. AND The ability to select, adapt, and apply investigation and negotiation techniques; interpret complex laws and regulations. AND The ability to develop new approaches, methods, or procedures in data gathering and analysis techniques, recognizing and resolving discrepancies and/or inconsistencies among findings. AND In addition to Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
