Intern - Public, Non-Profit, and Municipal Finance
Summer 2023 Paid Internship
Mid-May to Mid-August

Zions Bancorp. has an opportunity for an intern to work alongside the Director of National Municipal Finance as well as his team. This is an exciting time for the group as they are relatively new and working on developing markets across the country so have an abundance of important work that needs done as well as a variety.
If you have an interest in the fields of public finance/municipal bond investment banking and banking, accounting, or finance related to governmental entities, this is the position for you. We are interested in someone with an Entrepreneurial mindset that can think outside the box to be creative while understanding the rules and complying.
Below are some of the work the team handles that the intern could work on or be exposed to:
- Execution of the purchase of municipal bonds, loans and leases directly from governmental issuers.
- Identify, structure, and close transactions as they relate to municipal debt issues.
- Educate municipalities about other relevant products and services that the Bank offers.
- Identify, pursue and close financing opportunities by directly marketing to governmental entities, municipal advisors, bond attorneys, trustees and governmental associations.
- Read and analyze legal documents related to financing agreements.
- Manage channels for new and existing client product growth and referral activity.
- Cultivate a broad network of relationships with clients, referral sources and centers of influence inside and outside of the organization.
Qualifications:
- Currently working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or related degree - Master of Public Administration would be ideal.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent problem resolution and organizational skills.
- Interest in municipal debt issues and working with Federal Tax Law as it relates to municipal finance as well as statutory financing rules and regulations.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
- Ability to quickly learn other finance-related software products as needed.
