TheUW Medical Center-Montlake Pharmacy Departmentis seeking a highly-motivatedInvestigational Pharmacist - Investigational Drug Services (IDS).
WORK SCHEDULE
• Part-Time / 20 hours per week
• Day shifts
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
• Provide clinical pharmacy services to investigators in support of investigational drug studies
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist in the preparation and review of drug study protocols as needed for the daily implementation of the studies through the IDS.
• Perform and oversee the maintenance of accurate investigational drug records (this includes documentation of ordering and receipt of drug, drug inventory maintenance, packaging or pre-packaging responsibilities).
• Assist in arranging for study participants to receive study medication per protocol, as inpatients and in the ambulatory setting.
• Utilize the system of Continuous Quality Improvement to measure the effectiveness of pharmaceutical care activities (e.g., Audits of records for accuracy, etc.). Participate in audits and quality inspections.
• Participate in protocol development and exploratory projects which would directly contribute to improved patient care. Counsel patients on medications for use at home.
Strong candidates will be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and study protocols. Ability to effectively use computerization i.e., EPIC Hyperspace, Willow Ambulatory, Microsoft productivity applications, Micromedex, and other drug information databases including primary literature searches is desired. Must have knowledge of sterile compounding practices (USP 797), hazardous drug handling (USP 800), and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Two years of experience in pharmacy practice. Months spent in the completion of an American Society of Health System Pharmacists accredited residency training program may substitute month-for-month for the experience.
