Global Technical Training Centre of Excellence (Liverpool, NY)
The Global Technical Training Centre of Excellence team is responsible for National Grid's training facilities in the US and UK which offer both gas and electrical training. Our Design and Innovation Team is responsible for the instructional design and quality assurance of our technical training materials for Instructor-led classes as well as virtual learning approaches including eLearning and Pre/Post-Course Assessments. We are driven by innovation and staying up to date on future trends and learning practices. Our team is transforming how Learning is designed and delivered at National Grid with the vision that every employee has an opportunity to achieve their full potential in their learning journey. For the summer, you will be able to assist with the digital conversion of Classroom Training to Virtual and Augmented Reality, reviewing and testing training materials for assurance (e.g. eLearning), converting multimedia (video, audio), script writing and storyboarding, PowerPoint presentations and video production.
Meter Data Services (Syracuse, NY)
The Meter Data Services (MDS) organization collects data from over 7 million Electric and Gas Customer which is utilized to Bill Customers, Daily Settlement of the NY/NE ISO, SOX Audit, Load Research Studies and Engineering forecast and analysis. The MDS team interacts with several organizations including Meter Engineering, Field Operations, Customer Meter Services, Regulatory, Accounts Maintenance, and Billing and Systems. For the summer, you will have the chance to assist the team with several projects including: Customer System Consolidation, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), ISO Retail Settlement System, Gas Metretek System Upgrade, Storm Hardening Gas Value, and Electric Land-line to IP Meter Replacement. The daily tasks you will have include interfacing with the field organization to resolve Meter issues at customer sites, testing meters with Field Operations, Daily Billing File, Resolving billing issues, Weekly SOX Audit verifications, and Customer Information Requests.
NY Safety Performance (Syracuse, NY)
The NY Safety Performance team supports NY Safety Health & Environment (SHE) as well as the NY Business Unit by providing safety related data reporting/analysis to identify risk, trends, and areas with room for improvement. The data reporting & analysis involves working closely with National Grid's incident management system by utilizing existing reports, PowerBI visualizations, or database querying by writing SQL to provide performance results to leadership meetings and other uses. You will be able to work closely with our data analysis and reporting tools such as PowerBI, SQL, and our Incident Management System, while applying your data skills to gain further experience in a business setting.
Protection Telecom Operations (Liverpool, NY)
The Telecom Operations team is responsible for the operations network and communication between various groups. This includes and not limited to radio over IP, Land mobile radio systems, cellular communications, microwave systems, sonnet rings, and future MPLS systems. The team connects our field workers to control centers and give the control centers the ability to see the system and control devices remotely. For the summer, you will be able to get involved in project management and realization, database creation and migration, field visits, learning about 2-way radio systems and the importance how they operate, as well as exposure to SCADA systems.
Revenue Assurance (Syracuse, NY)
The Revenue Assurance team strives to identify and resolve all lost and unaccounted revenue through the enhancement of processes and controls. The team utilizes the Revenue Assurance life cycle to minimize leakage with a focus on safety and reliability across our organizational footprint. For the summer you will conduct dashboard reporting for current projects using such applications as Power BI and SQL. You will also work on such projects as our Stopped Meter Project, which is looking to identify and cure over 10,000 gas meters that are currently not reflecting correct readings. Through this project you will analyze data and issue field orders to have the gas meter investigated.
Robotic Process Automation - US (Syracuse, NY)
The Robotic Process Automation team identifies, designs, builds, tests, and supports automated solutions for different departments within National Grid. The team has 3 core functions which are identify & discovery, design & delivery and provide support where needed. For the summer, you will research and share findings on new technologies and industry changes, assist in testing and product migration, review/update communication materials, and work on internal automations.
SAP Billing (Syracuse, NY)
The SAP Billing team is responsible for all non-utility invoicing to third parties. Each month, this team invoices an average of 5,500 invoices averaging $300m. The team works with different stakeholders and customers across the business. For the summer, you will be assigned a team mentor and have a unique project assigned based on your interests and focus of study. The expected time frame of the project will last two months. This team will offer different opportunities to network and work with other interns as well.
US Finance Data and Reporting Office (Syracuse, NY)
The U.S. FDRO team coordinates with our different internal departments to maintain standard processes and governance around data quality management and reporting and analytics. The team develops BI dashboards and reports to educate stakeholders around finance data. For the summer you will assist in producing and delivering reporting and analytics. You will also assist in tracking and reporting key performance indicators (KPI) to ensure team compliance.

Salary Range
$17.00 - $23.00 an hour (Undergraduate Student)
$24.00 - $29.00 an hour (Graduate Student)
Candidates will be assessed and provided offers based on major, degree type, and class year. Our Gridtern Program does not offer relocation, housing assistance, or public transportation reimbursement for Gridterns; however, we can provide a list of resources to utilize in making your arrangements.
