Job Description

We are seeking an IT Programmer II to maintain and enhance our custom-built crop insurance application. The system, AgriNet, is considered one of the leading crop insurance applications in the industry. It supports all of the insurance functions including policy administration, quoting/rating, GIS mapping of cropland, claims, accounting, reporting and transmission of data to the U.S. Government. We have approximately 3,000 Agents and 900 employees using the system to support approximately 80k policy holders and 90m acres of farmland. As an IT Programmer II, you will be responsible for working closely with business analysts, technical leads and other programmers to develop and extend the platform based on new and emerging business needs.

The role will be based out of our Lenexa, KS, Colorado Springs, CO, or Lubbock, TX office.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Technical Leads and Senior Engineers in defining, designing, building, managing, and maintaining technical solutions in accordance with the IT SDLC processes, standards and best practices.
  • Ensure that functional and non-functional requirements are clearly understood, designed against, tested and documented for performing, reliable, scalable, portable and highly available applications.
  • Participate in code reviews and validations for engineers' deliverables, and ensure that proper level (as required by SDLC) of design documentation, traceability and test coverage are in place for functional and non-functional requirements and use-cases
  • Manage enhancements and changes, and resolution of incidents and problems for technical solutions in accordance with IT service delivery and support principles and SLAs.

Qualifications

  • 5 -10 years software development experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar degree
  • Extensive knowledge of .NET and Web UI/Java Script Frameworks
  • SQL - Strong database development skills (SQL Server)
  • Knowledge and experience with integration architecture patterns, standards, frameworks, or tools
  • Hands-on experience is required with design and implementation of security standards and patterns
  • Good understanding and hands-on experience in designing, implementing, deploying, and maintaining public facing, high performing and scalable enterprise web services and APIs
  • Working knowledge / experience is required in SOA, WCF, Web Services (SOAP, REST, XML, JSON) and various transport and security protocols
  • Working experience with application development tools (e.g., GIT, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, etc.)
  • Experience is required for employing Test Driven Design, with demonstrable experience in translating requirements into use-cases and into unit / functional test cases
  • Experience is preferred in implementing or use of web services platforms that enable mediation for integration and security requirements for web and mobile open interfaces

Salary Range: $65,000- $125,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience

Our compensation program is built on a foundation that promotes a pay-for-performance culture, resulting in higher incentive awards, on average, when the Company does well and lower incentive awards when the Company underperforms. The total compensation opportunity for all regular, full-time employees is a combination of base salary and incentives that gets adjusted upfront

based on overall Company performance with final awards based on individual performance.
