C. Abbonizio Contractors, Inc. is initiating a search for a Field Office Construction Job Cost Accountant for a heavy highway project to oversee all financial aspects of construction projects managed through the field office. To support project success, they ensure accurate financial tracking, budget compliance, and timely reporting. This role requires strong collaboration with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors and adherence to company policies and industry regulations.
Responsibilities:
β’ Manage Project Budgets/Costs:Collaborate with project managers to create and monitor detailed budgets for construction projects.
β’ Invoice and payment processing:Process vendor invoices, subcontractor payments, purchase orders, and payment requests, ensuring accuracy, timely processing, and compliance with contract terms.
β’ Field Office Operations:Provide in-person support at the field office. Project accountants in field offices work closely with on-site personnel, including project managers, superintendents, and field coordinators. May need to travel between different project sites or the main office.
β’ Completed Daily Foreman's Reports:Scan daily reports, email them to payroll, and then file the originals.
β’ Delivery Tickets:Sort and ensure each ticket has a job number and a valid cost code. Send the original to the office and file a copy in the jobsite file.
β’ Direct Deliveries:Those that come to the trailer, call the foreman or supervisor to find out where to send the driver, collect delivery tickets.
β’ Review:Safety Logs and inspections periodically for compliance. Create and maintain a log book per the supervisor's instructions.
β’ Support Project Managers & Supervisors:with administrative tasks and answer phones.
β’ Safety Supplies: Monitor & email request for supplies to the Safety Department such as vests, masks, glasses, hard hats.
β’ Forms:(Daily Reports, new hire packets, morning huddles, toolbox talks, timecards, etc.)βkeep well stocked for the foreman.
β’ Monitor Supervisor's email:- Print emails when necessary & give them to Supervisors.
β’ Subcontractor and Vendor Management:Oversee the financial aspects of subcontractor contracts, ensuring compliance with terms, including lien waivers, payment schedules, and insurance requirements. Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
β’ Job Costing and Analysis:Use job costing methodologies to track and allocate costs associated with labor, materials and equipment.
Qualifications and skills
β’ Education:A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
β’ Experience:Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in construction accounting or project-based accounting.
β’ Technical Skills:Proficiency in accounting software, including construction-specific platforms like QuickBooks for Construction, Sage 300 CRE, or comparable platforms. Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential.
β’ Industry Knowledge:Deep understanding of construction cost accounting principles, job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, revenue recognition, and contract management in the construction industry.
β’ Analytical Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage project budgets, analyze cost variances, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
β’ Attention to Detail:Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and recordkeeping.
β’ Communication Skills:Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with project managers, field personnel, and other stakeholders.
β’ Organizational and Time Management Skills:Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
β’ Adaptability and Flexibility:Ability to adjust to changes in project scope or timelines while maintaining accuracy and efficiency under pressure. A strong work ethic and a βcan-doβ attitude.

This position is paid on an hourly basis based on previous experience.
