We are a growing company that delivers high-quality work while maintaining a friendly working environment. www.foliagardens.com Job Summary: We are looking for a seasonal full time Mason/Stoneworker, with a knowledge of varying masonry techniques to join our outdoor building team. We specialize in building high-end outdoor urban gardens that include hardscape elements such as pavers on pedestals, concrete flatwork, CMU and brick masonry, formed and poured walls, countertops, and stone veneer projects throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. The successful candidate will be skilled in masonry and stonework and have an eye for fine detail and be able to lead a team while also working independently. Duties/Responsibilities • Performs and completes a variety of masonry and stonework installations with a focus on quality workmanship • Collaborates with Project Designer(s) concerning work orders, drawings, and sketches to understand the masonry that needs to be installed • Plans and prepares equipment, tools, and material requirements for each job • Safely and efficiently operates a variety of masonry equipment, power tools, and hand tools to complete jobs accurately • Respects and protects client property and furnishings during installations • Keeps the job site clean and always organized • Report daily progress with detailed notes and photo documentation to manager • Ensures tools and equipment are properly cleaned, stored, and maintained for optimum performance and safety • Ensures safety compliance and follows all Folia Safety Manual guidelines for self and team • Performs other related duties as assigned Required Skills/Abilities: • Extensive experience in all masonry construction and stone installation • Strong leadership and supervisory abilities • Ability to read and interpret blueprints • Excellent communication skills • Proficiency in using various masonry tools and equipment • Physical stamina to perform demanding manual labor • Highly motivated, self-driven individual, and hard working • Must be able to problem solve • Strong verbal & written communication skills • Ability to take direction, prioritize and multi-task • Punctual, dependable, and willing to work in all kinds of weather • Good time management skills • Thorough understanding of the correct & safe operation of all related tools and equipment; Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures • Smartphone is a must and clean drivers license a plus Education and Experience: • 5+ years’ experience in masonry and stonework projects • Completion of formal apprenticeship program or equivalent training and experience • OSHA-SST required Physical Requirements: • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time • Must be able to squat, lift, stretch, and bend to complete projects • Must be able to work in and on overhead structures, as well as below machinery Employment Type: • This is a full-time/seasonal position with room for growth. Start date is immediately, with the season running to mid-December or longer depending on weather.
