WOB – Junior General Ledger Accountant Position Summary The Junior General Ledger Accountant is responsible for creating and maintaining accurate and compliant financial documents. This individual is responsible for all aspects of full-cycle month-end closing and annual financial closing. Duties may include but not be limited to preparing and posting journal entries, cash disbursements, cash receipts, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and monthly schedules. Position Details • Reports to: Senior Accounting Manager • Location: Houston, TX • Position Type: Regular Full-Time • FLSA Status: non-Exempt • Pay: Hourly • Compensation: Commensurate with experience • Travel: None Essential Job Functions • Applies knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to the preparation of journal entries for posting to the general ledger, financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis • Prepare and review monthly account reconciliations. • Analyze balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy; prepare balance sheet reconciliations with detailed explanations of account balances. • Prepare, review, and post monthly journal entries. • Prepare cash disbursement and cash receipts. • Participate in the annual financial statement audit. • Ensure financial records comply with regulatory standards. • Generate financial reports and ensure timely and accurate reporting. • Compile tax information for periodic tax returns. • Reviews financial statements for accuracy and prepares all necessary accruals, amortizations and reclassifications to complete the final monthly close package to ensure compliance with GAAP standards. • Ensure all GL journals and backup are saved in the appropriate folders monthly. • Provide support to AR and AP departments • Other duties and special projects as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field or 2 years of directly related work experience • 1-2 years of full cycle accounting experience with general ledger experience • Strong organization skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and customer service skills • Self-starter, proactive, and a team player with the ability to meet goals and deadlines • Detail oriented with ability to work effectively and efficiently under time pressure • Microsoft Excel Intermediate level of proficiency (ability to create pivot tables, and vlookups) Job Description Disclaimer This position description incorporates the core responsibilities of the job.
