Job Summary:
The Junior Accountant will support OverSightMD’s financial operations by maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. This role is perfect for a motivated professional with a solid foundation in accounting and a desire to grow in the healthcare industry. Key duties include managing expense accounts, routine bookkeeping, and reviewing state tax obligations for our remote workforce. Additional duties may include supporting the billing team with filling claims. This role will report directly to the CEO and CFO.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage Expense Accounts: Process and reconcile employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with OverSightMD’s policies and healthcare industry standards.
• Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate financial records through journal entries, general ledger updates, and account reconciliations.
• Review State Tax Obligations: Research and monitor state tax requirements for OverSightMD’s remote workforce, ensuring compliance with multi-state payroll and tax regulations.
• File Claims: Prepare and submit insurance claims, ensuring timely and accurate documentation to support healthcare reimbursements.
• Assist in preparing financial reports for internal stakeholders and external audits.
• Support monthly accounting projects.
• Collaborate with the finance team to streamline processes and enhance efficiency in a healthcare-focused environment.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1-2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (internships included).
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or similar).
• Basic knowledge of state and federal tax regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Interest in the healthcare industry or experience with healthcare finance is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity with expense management tools.
• Understanding of multi-state payroll tax compliance.
