Junior Data Scientist Intern

Complete an internship project at SOPHiA GENETICS whose mission is to build the future of AI-assisted medicine, joining the Multimodal Predictive Algorithm Team as a Junior Data Scientist Intern.

Your mission: 

You will contribute to the development and validation of deep-learning algorithms designed to predict treatment responses in various cancer types, including liver, breast, and lung cancer. This project is part of a larger initiative focused on multimodal predictive models that aim to improve treatment outcomes in oncology. 

You will be involved in: 

• Constitution and managing of the training and testing cohorts from real-world medical datasets. 

• Training deep-learning algorithms on medical imaging datasets to improve prediction accuracy. 

• Testing and validating the performance and effectiveness of deep-learning models. 

• Optimisation and fine-tune deep-learning models for better performance and clinical applicability. 

The experience you bring: 

• Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, or a related field. 

• Basic knowledge of deep-learning techniques and image processing. 

• Proficiency in Python, with a strong interest in machine learning and AI. 

• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal. 

• Ability to manage priorities effectively, and collaborate within a team, while also working independently when required. 

What you will learn: 

• Gain hands-on experience in handling and analysing large, real-world oncology datasets. 

• In-depth knowledge of machine learning and deep-learning techniques applied to medical imaging. 

• Skills in developing and validating predictive models to support treatment response prediction in oncology. 

• Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and medical experts.

Contract type: 6-month internship
