About the Company
CAMP is a Family Experience Company that helps answer the question “What should we do today?” through a unique combination of Retail & Media. Launched in December of 2018, CAMP operates nine retail locations in New York, Texas, Connecticut, Massachusetts, California, and New Jersey, and serves families everywhere via its digital platforms.
CAMP will open stores in other major markets in the coming months.
What is the Role?
CAMP is looking for a Junior Designer to support the design of themed experiences at CAMP. As a Junior Designer, you will report to CAMP’s VP of Experience Design and work on the CAMP Labs team. You will assist in the creation of new experiential themes, from initial ideation and concept development through schematic and design development, as well as providing organizational and logistical assistance to the VP of Experience Design.
You will be responsible for working within our Experience Design team to deliver high quality designs for interactive and immersive themed experiences according to internal processes and CAMP best practices. This role will include sketching, CAD, and 3D modeling with Rhino.Â
This role is located in our New York office.
What will you do at CAMP?
- Building massing, conceptual, and final design models in collaboration with the rest of the design team, using Rhino.
- Participate in the creation of ID packages to document theme designs using AutoCAD and Rhino
- Assist the VP of Experience Design in scheduling, file management, templating, and other organizational and logistical tasksÂ
- Making thoughtful, creative contributions and work to elevate the concept via the design process.
What will you bring to CAMP?
- Minimum of 2 years in-office work experience in experiential, architectural, and/or scenic design
- You are proficient in AutoCAD and Rhino. Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, Revit, 3DS, or other visualization software familiarity is a bonus
- You are able to communicate ideas through rough sketching.
- Proven ability to proactively identify problems and raise concerns to the appropriate party
- Openness to receiving design feedback, and skill in incorporating feedback in an iterative process
- Demonstrated business communication skills (written and verbal)
- Self-starter, proactive, ability to prioritize and shift focus with ease and flexibility
- You are not afraid to jump in where needed - no task is too big or too small for you, and you are willing to throw down and help your team before you are asked
- Desire to be part of a tight-knit team looking to transform the traditional retail experience.
- Located within commuting distance in New York City and able to travel to the office at least 50% of the time.
- You are authorized to work lawfully in the United States
