Latona School Associates is looking for a Lead Teacher for the school-age childcare program located at the John Stanford International School (in Wallingford). Up to $28.5 per hour. This position is To join our team as a Lead Teacher. This position is 3/4 time and includes benefits. The staff at LSA are; β€’ outgoing and energetic; comfortable around a large group of kids β€’ creative and fun; willing to engage the kids β€’ caring and compassionate; helping children learn and find solutions β€’ responsible and capable of managing a group of kids, and supervising an Assistant/Support Teacher If that sounds like you, READ ON! Job Requirements: β€’ Bachelors' Degree or 2 years of experience in Licensed childcare. Other combinations of education/experience will be considered β€’ Knowledge of Social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies is a plus! β€’ CPR and First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain β€’ Food Handlers’ permit, or willingness to obtain β€’ DSHS/DEL background check clearance β€’ Willingness to obtain 30-hour STARS/MERIT certification (paid training) β€’ Currently authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis for any employer without restriction β€’ Be able to speak, read and write English, lift 40 lbs., work indoors and outdoors, assume a low posture so as to be on a child's level, and move around the center/classroom engaging in physical activity with children for a period of up to 8 hours β€’ Applicants fluent in either Spanish or Japanese are preferred Classroom Duties: Provide active supervision of children according to the expectations LSA Administrators and DCYF licensing guidelines, which includes- but is not limited to- the following: β€’ Managing the behavior of large groups of students to ensure safety and smooth operation of the program β€’ Being engaged with the children at all times β€’ Tracking and developing strategies to manage individual children's behavior β€’ Planning and implementing classroom routines and activities β€’ prepare a safe classroom environment, which includes-but is not limited to-the following; Maintenance of the physical classroom space, including cleaning, organizing, preparing a safe place for students each day, while meeting all the pertinent DCYF licensing guidelines for school age childcare β€’ Orchestrate successful group transitions from one place to another, from one activity to another, throughout the day β€’ Create a weekly lesson plan, which will enables an assistant or substitute to fill-in, in the event of absence β€’ Unwaveringly model good judgement and appropriate behavior in accordance with the LSA code of conduct β€’ Communicate daily with the Program Manager and Executive Director about any concerns regarding child safety, child behaviors, curriculum development, classroom management, etc. β€’ Communicate as needed with parents regarding the individual social, emotion and academic development of their child β€’ Participate in JSIS and/or LSA meetings pertaining to the development of individual students and improvement of the program Additional Duties: β€’ Follow record-keeping guidelines and Parent communication requirements β€’ Maintain confidentiality β€’ Promote goodwill and team-building β€’ Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned Reports to:Assistant Director, Executive Director Supervises:Assistant Teacher(s), a whole bunch of zany kids Hours:up to 30hours per week Compensation: $26/hr - $28.5/hr Benefits:Medical and Dental, Retirement and 10 paid sick days, 14 paid holidays Latona School Associates is an Equal Opportunity employer.
