Primary Responsibilities Overview:
• Primarily responsible for leading daily operations in Back of House (BOH)
• Drive daily focus and execution of Chick-fil-A’s Operational Requirements and Winning Hearts Every Day Strategy
• Serve as the subject matter expert for kitchen operations, food safety & quality procedures
• Responsible for developing and leading Back of House Leadership
• Identify areas of opportunity in Back of House operations & set monthly goals for Back of House Leadership Team
• Create systems and processes to ensure food safety, food quality, and cleanliness standards are upheld
• Be willing and able to meet the demands of the business
Scheduling Requirements:
• Full-Time Position - Work minimum of 45 hours per week
• Maintain Open Availability with limited restrictions
• Max of 12 Saturdays off per year
• Expected to work a closing shift a minimum of 2 nights per week
**Key Tasks & Responsibilities**
Food Safety & Risk Management:
• Responsible for creating a Culture of Food Safety in Back of House and execution of Food Safety and Quality requirements ALL DAY EVERY DAY
• Ensure Safe Daily Criticals are completed 4 times a day, every day (Assessment times: 6:30am , 10:30am, 2:30pm, 5:30pm)
• Review Safe Daily Critical Findings and coaches leaders and team members on any gaps or issues
• Conduct weekly eFSA & other in depth Food Safety Assessments
• Resolve any food safety issues immediately and continually work to prevent food safety issues
• Responsible for the Safety & Security of team members & guests
• Ensure kitchen is always organized and standards for cleanliness are upheld ALL DAY EVERY DAY
Food Quality & Customer Experience:
• Monitor and drive execution of daily eRQAs
• Reviews results and evaluates the effectiveness of food quality efforts
• Conduct eRQAs with a each Back of House Leader once a week across all day parts (breakfast, lunch, & dinner)
• Identify areas of opportunity and coach on desired behaviors/practices, issue discipline if necessary
• Manage AHA execution & metrics to ensure store ranks in Top 20% of chain and procedures are executed per the Chick-fil-A Standard
• Analyze CEMs and Cares to identify areas of opportunity and share results with team
Financial Return:
• Partner with Director Team to manage/steward Food Cost
• Develop and drive LEAN mindset in back of house to reduce waste
People Management:
• Responsible for managing & executing BOH scheduling and meeting Labor Productivity Targets
• Responsible for covering shifts in BOH if no other leadership is available to work
• Responsible for scheduling & executing bi weekly BOH Leadership Meetings/Huddles
• Conduct monthly one on one meetings with BOH Leaders to coach and discuss individual growth opportunities
• Responsible for the training and development of all BOH Leaders and Team Members
• Reviews daily shift setups with back of house leaders & provide coaching on desired outcomes and behaviors if necessary
• Lead authority for addressing BOH team member performance opportunities & Policy Handbook Violations (Use ESRC Model for performance issues)
• Review all Back of House performance and disciplinary actions/issues with Talent Director on a weekly basis
• Assist Talent Director with back of house team member performance reviews
• Uphold & champion our “Team Member Promise” towards all team members that embody our Core Values, Rules for Culture, and go above and beyond for the restaurant

The Kitchen Director serves as the Operator’s forward thinking partner in Back of House, and is primarily responsible for the execution of Chick-fil-A’s Winning Hearts Every Day Strategy and driving a culture of food safety and quality. This leader has G.R.I.T. and exhibits a passion for food safety & quality. This individual is required to be highly competent in Chick-fil-A’s Operational Requirements for back of house, food safety, and food quality. This leader must possess a high leadership capacity, meaning this individual has the ability to reduce complexity in the business and create systems and processes to drive consistent execution of Chick-fil-A’s Food Safety and Quality Requirements. This leader is responsible for ensuring the back of house culture is aligned with the Operator’s Vision, Values, & Rules for Culture for the restaurant. This Leader consistently embodies Chick-fil-A Hwy 211 & Potranco's Core Values for Directors, and Chick-fil-A Inc’s Corporate Purpose in and outside the four walls of the restaurant. He or she is the lead authority and accountability partner for kitchen operations and Food Safety & Quality compliance in the back of house. The Kitchen Director’s primary responsibilities are: creating and driving systems & processes that ensure consistent execution of Chick-fil-A’s Food Safety & Quality Requirements, coordinating execution of daily Food Safety & Quality Assessments (daily eRQAs & 4 Safe Daily Criticals per day), conducting daily food safety walkthroughs, stewardship of facility & cleanliness of kitchen, conducting weekly Food Safety Assessments, preparing team for Quarterly QIVs & SAFE Visits, work with Assistant Kitchen Director to manage team member scheduling & training logistics, leadership development, AHA Timers, and Taste of Food CEMs metric. The Kitchen Director enpowers leaders in the back of house to identify areas of opportunity, set & reach goals/targets, and celebrate wins with the team.
