Position Overview:We are seeking a motivated and reliable Construction Laborer to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide manual labor services during construction/repair/remodel of commercial structures. Assist other craft workers and laborers with the building, installing, and repairing of structures, fixtures, and other items using diverse types of materials including wood, steel, plastic, fiberglass +/or drywall assist in the construction, repair, and remodeling of commercial structures fixtures, and other items using diverse types of materials including wood, steel, plastic, fiberglass +/or drywall.

Safety on Construction Sites
Related Tasks:
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment
• Follow workplace safety procedures
• Assist/cooperate with investigations of any accidents/incidents, as necessary
• General knowledge of APP (Accident Prevention Plan), safety guidelines, fire prevention methods and risk management techniques
• Participate with training on workplace safety, job hazards and health matters to protect workers’ safety and health
• Take necessary precautions to ensure persons are not exposed to safety or health risks due to the activities of the workplace
• Model jobsite safety culture by example and behaviors (ex. always donning PPE, fall protection, ladder safety) OSHA safety rule and code awareness

• Immediately report any unsafe acts, conditions or accidents
• Corrects safety hazards as discovered
• Record all reported injuries and near misses on required forms, notify safety director immediately and assist as required

• Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery or equipment
• Perform building weatherization tasks
• Assist in installing pipes and drains
• Operate forklifts to transport materials and equipment, as trained, instructed and certified
• Erect or dismantle temporary structures, fencing and
scaffolding, shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps or other
• Provide assistance to craft workers
• Position, join, align, or seal structural components
• Grind, scrape, sand or polish surfaces
• Position or dismantle forms
• Spray materials such as water, sand, steam, vinyl, paint, or stucco
• Apply caulking compounds
• Smooth or finish cement or concrete
• Mop, brush or spread paints, cleaning solutions or other compounds
• Perform site activities required of green certified construction practices, such as implementing waste management procedures, recycle, identifying materials for re-use, or installing erosion or sedimentation control mechanisms
• Operate tools
• Identify, pack or transport materials, ready for disposal
• Raze buildings or salvage materials
• Place traffic signs to warn traffic and pedestrians
• Clean and maintain equipment
• Perform tasks such as trimming and clearing
• Load/unload/move equipment, carry supplies and materials and transport equipment

• Assist with temp lighting set up and maintenance
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in a combination of outside environments (mainly outside) or shop, and some office and is regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil, fumes and noise associated with construction. Some work may be performed sitting at a desk operating a computer, phone and other related office equipment, as necessary. Work performed outdoors requires walking and or standing for extended periods of time on hard uneven surfaces at work site environment. While working indoors, typically the noise level in the work environment is moderate. While working outdoors, the noise level may increase from moderate to high. Exposure to loud noises, both indoors and outdoors, daily is due to commercial construction, maintenance and repair activities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to hear, speak and understand the spoken word to respond promptly to calls for assistance and to be able to communicate clearly. Must be able to kneel/squat/crawl/push/pull and climb occasionally, as well as reach outright and overhead. Must have the dexterity and manual skill required to operate power tools and equipment, camera, the keyboard of a computer terminal, cell phone, and the ability to read maps, drawings and other related project materials. This position may also require the ability to operate a motorized vehicle and to maneuver through various types of terrain (asphalt, gravel and uneven surfaces) in the environment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS (All requirements are preferred)
High School graduate or equivalent. Minimum age of 18. No experience is required, this is an entry-level position. Additional experience, education and certification and/or special training is preferred, such as forklift certification and operation. Written and oral communication skills are required. Pre-employment drug screen and background check required, with results acceptable to Rafn Company standards. May require First aid/CPR training and certification (provided by Rafn).
