Laborer

Atlas Ship Repair is hiring a laborer. The candidate will report directly to the Production Manager. The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the production team welding, fabrication, and repairing equipment and structural components, to assemble structural forms in manufacturing of Naval and Commercial ships. Additionally, in the laborer role the candidate will need to perform various tasks such as lifting and moving materials; loading and unloading vehicles and other activities as assigned. The candidate will transport materials, tools and equipment to and within work sites as required. Participates in special projects as required In the laborer role the candidates primary duty is to actively monitor a designated area for potential fire hazards, ensuring they are kept away from ignition sources, and to immediately respond to any signs of fire by alerting emergency services, extinguishing small fires if possible, and stopping operations if necessary; this often includes closely observing "hot work" activities like welding where fire risks are heightened. MINUMUM SKILLS & ABILITIES • Must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment • Must be able to follow Instructions. Utilize hand tools to perform manual labor • Must be able to follow all required safety protocols and maintain a clean working area • Must have a valid driver’s license and US passport and be willing and able to travel as needed to support projects. • Ensure that requirements of the safety and quality handbook are properly followed and enforced. • Must be a US Citizen and able to pass a criminal background check; be able to obtain and maintain base access to Military facilities/bases and to support Government and private shipyards. • Must have a valid driver’s license and US passport and be willing and able to travel as needed to support projects. • Perform similar, incidental, and other duties as assigned by the Production Manager
