LBS1 Special Education Teacher (Type 10 or Type 9 with LBS1 endorsement) Locations in Elgin, Romeoville, and Lombard IL (Western Suburbs of Chicago) $5,000 Sign on bonus available (details available upon interview) Financial support for General Ed Teachers looking to complete their LBS1. Program Overview Private Therapeutic Day School ages K-22 Self-contained classrooms Expressive Therapy (ET) approach, offering students Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Recreation Therapy as well as incentive clubs. Special Education Teacher Job Description Lead a self-contained special education classroom serving students with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, emotional/behavioral disorders, and other health impairments. Classroom programming includes sensory, communication, and behavioral support systems which are integrated within the environment to meet the individual needs of the students. Curriculum includes a combination of functional academic learning, daily living skills, and pre-vocational programming that is individualized based on student needs. Primary Duties Design and implement lesson plans based on student ability levels and needs as outlined in IEPs. Manage classroom behaviors with the help of support staff and the SEAL behavioral points program. Collaborate with counselors, SLP's, and OT's to support the students and identify areas of need. Assess and collect student data specific to academic and behavioral goals. Prepare documentation for and participate in IEP meetings. Prepare documentation for report cards and quarterly goal updates. Participate in weekly Professional Learning Communities. Job Details Full-time salary position with benefits (BC/BS health/dental/life insurance, 401K/Match opportunities, Aflac available, PTO, tuition reimbursement) Monday – Friday 8:00AM-3:30PM Academic calendar plus 3-day/week summer school session Locations in Lombard, Romeoville, and Elgin.
