Position Description

The Lead Accountant / Accounting Manager is a highly experienced individual contributor that will work with a team of other experienced Accounting Managers and Senior Accountants to support our growing business. S/He will report to the Corporate Controller and will support the organization by monitoring and analyzing accounting data as well as producing financial reports and statements.

The Accounting Manager is a regular, full-time position out of our company headquarters in Brickell, Miami, FL, and is eligible for our generous employee benefits package, including employer paid health insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions. We do offer flexibility to work from home one day per week, or up to four days per month. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately, timely, and completely in accordance GAAP and that the books are closed each Period on a timely basis.
  • Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders and team members across the organization.
  • Continuously improve accounting, reporting, cash management, and financial planning systems, processes, and policies.
  • Coordinate with FP&A in the preparation and analysis of budgets and quarterly financial forecasts including report variances.
  • Provide status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Assist with the preparation and completion of financial reports.
  • Participate in the monthly closing process.
  • Perform account reconciliation for significant balance sheet, P&L, and cash flow accounts.
  • Effectively maintain the General Ledger, and partner with other departments to ensure the integrity of the financial records across entities.
  • Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices.
  • Prepare analyses of accounts and produce monthly reports.
  • Assist in preparing the Month End Financial reporting packages.
  • Support external and internal audits as needed.
  • Maintain consistent accounting practices, policies, and procedures across all business units.
  • Ensure accurate recording of A/P, A/R, and inventory transactions in SAP.
  • Investigate and resolve problems associated with processing of invoices across all departments.
  • Assist with automating and streamlining the preparation of financial statements and management reports in SAP and Excel.
  • Identify and recommend updates to accounting processes and procedures.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • Certified public accountant (CPA) is preferred.
  • Public Accounting experience a plus.
  • GAAP accounting experience is required.
  • SAP experience is required.
  • Cash accounting & management. 
  • 6+years of experience required in a progressive financial accounting, technical accounting and/or reporting.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Experience in construction/project-oriented operating environment would be an asset.
  • Renewable energy experience would be an asset.

 Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Travel                  Up to 10% travel required as necessary

This position requires frequent in-person collaboration, and as such, the Senior Accountant must be willing to work from our office in Miami, FL.
