LEAD BUSINESS ANALYST - CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY - REMOTE NYC

LEAD BUSINESS ANALYST – CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY – NYC REMOTE We are seeking a highly driven, experienced Lead Business Analyst to support the end-to-end implementation of a multi-phase platform across a 7-phase delivery plan for the New York City Department of Buildings. This is a 12-month contract position with the flexibility of remote work, though occasional onsite presence may be required. Note: A Business Analysis related writing sample will be required. No Sponsorship or thrid party contracts for this role - Must live in the NYC area even though it is remote- No Relocations What You’ll Do: • Serve as the primary liaison between client stakeholders and internal technical teams across all seven implementation phases • Analyze business needs and translate them into clearly defined, actionable functional and non-functional requirements • Conduct gap analysis between current-state client processes and proposed system functionality • Prioritize and validate requirements with internal and external stakeholders • Develop and maintain business analysis documentation including: • Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) • Functional Specifications • User Stories with Acceptance Criteria • Process Flows and Use Case Diagrams • Traceability Matrices • Ensure all documentation is clear, concise, client-friendly, and audit-ready • Support project milestones by tracking follow-ups, documenting decisions, and assisting in UAT planning and validation • Partner with project managers to manage dependencies, risks, and timelines • Lead client-facing meetings including requirement walkthroughs, demos, and status updates • Translate technical concepts into plain language for non-technical stakeholders • Manage expectations and priorities to maintain project momentum • Deliver professional, high-quality communication in both written and verbal formats What You’ll Bring: • 5+ years of experience in a Business Analyst role, including 2+ years in a Lead or Senior BA capacity • Experience in the construction industry, specifically with building inspections • Proven success with multi-phase software implementation projects • Strong expertise in eliciting, documenting, and validating complex business requirements • Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to produce client-ready documentation independently • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities • Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall environments • Prior experience working with government agencies or public sector clients Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
