Position Summary
The Lead Carpenter serves as the field representative for Horgan Building Co., responsible for directing subcontractors, subordinate employees, and material suppliers under the supervision of the Project Manager. This role combines hands-on carpentry work with on-site leadership, coordination, and quality control to deliver exceptional project outcomes that reflect our core values of:

Key Responsibilities
Field Operations
- Direct and coordinate subcontractors and field team activities on-site.
- Perform skilled carpentry tasks across framing, drywall, and finish phases.
- Solve layout and installation challenges using professional judgment and field experience.
- Maintain and protect tools, materials, and reusable job components.
Project Coordination
- Participate in pre-construction meetings to review project scope and specifications.
- Align daily jobsite activity with goals set by the Project Manager during Tuesday project meetings, including a review of scope of work in Teams.
- Notify subcontractors and suppliers in advance to keep the job flowing smoothly.
- Pick up materials when needed and inspect all deliveries for accuracy and condition.
Quality Assurance
- Maintain site plans, specifications, change orders, and inspection reports.
- Conduct quality control walk-throughs at key project phases.
- Submit observations and participate in continual improvement reviews to repeat what works and eliminate what doesnβt.
- Actively reinforce company quality standards throughout every phase of the project.
Documentation & Technology
- Track and enter hours in TSheets, including notes on subcontractors or key happenings.
- Upload daily progress photos to OneDrive and encourage others to do the same.
- Maintain confidentiality of job files and sensitive project information.
Health & Safety
- Conduct weekly safety briefings.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and company safety policies.
- Inspect tools and equipment regularly.
- Read and acknowledge the companyβs safety protocol plan and submit documentation to the Safety Coordinator.
Leadership & Communication
- Lead by example in work ethic, attitude, and adherence to core values.
- Provide clear direction to all on-site personnel and vendors.
- Communicate job status, issues, and needs to the Project Manager daily.
Onboarding Requirements
- Complete review and acknowledgment of the company safety protocol.
- Review and acknowledge the Work Vehicle Checklist.
- Participate in onboarding orientation and shadowing as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of commercial carpentry experience.
- Strong layout, framing, drywall, and finish carpentry skills.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and job specifications.
- Ability to lead teams and manage fast-paced jobsite logistics.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.39 - $36.59 per hour
