Lead Database Administrator

The Lead Database Administrator role requires a highly competent and highly motivated individual who wants to strengthen their technical abilities and grow their professional career. This role requires a service-oriented mentality, high sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, a focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating, and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes. Excellent analytical skills, time management skills, communication skills, ability to prioritize, multi-task and ability to routinely make effective and timely decisions in alignment with departmental direction are required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Install, Configure, and maintain multiple Microsoft SQL Servers environments. Including compute and storage monitoring
• Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO) - monitor, analyze, recommend, and implement solutions to both existing and new databases.
• Maintains and ensures database consistency, integrity, security, and auditing in accordance with regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Implement and maintain High Availability solutions such as Windows Clustering, SQL Availability Groups, and log shipping. Plan, test, and implement SQL Server Disaster Recovery solutions.
• Troubleshooting and mitigating issues in a complex technical environment - Identify, track, and resolve database-related issues, incidents, and requests.
• Leads logical data modeling processes for complex applications database requirements and converts logical data models into physical data models. Works closely with the application development team to ensure successful deployment and performance of database applications.
• Create SQL statements, stored procedures, functions, and other related T-SQL tasks. Provide various reports and reporting solutions.
• Scripting-solid understanding of OS based scripting, develop and run scripts successfully that automate and orchestrate DBA related tasks.
• Develop and maintain front-end and back-end data routines/jobs, queries, and tools to support high data availability, data integrity, and performance efficiencies.
• Provide comprehensive and clear documentation for all new database builds, redevelopments, and enhancements for standard operational procedures
• Basic knowledge of Cloud technologies (such as Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Demonstrated experience in attracting, recruiting, and retaining top-tier data engineering talent
• Strong communications skills and demonstrated experience in working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors

Data Solution Architecture and Delivery

• Presents innovative and effective data solutions to business leaders and develops contingency plans to ensure a smooth transition of any changes to current system processes.
• Analyzes and evaluates data flows and solutions for business logic, performance, and architecture alignment.
• Lead discovery workshops, performing data profiling, requirements gathering, process mapping, and developing data-driven business solutions.
• Trusted advisor for Cloud Platform and Data Architecture for delivery teams. Ensure alignment of solution architecture to cloud-first principles
• Provides architectural guidance and mentoring to multiple development teams
• Develops and documents current and target state architecture diagrams and mappings
