Who you are:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent formal training, certification, or work experience.
- 6-8 years of experience in database administration.
- Proficiency in Relational Databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, Informix, PostgreSQL) and/or NoSQL (Cassandra, MongoDB).
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills.
- Exceptional analytical skills.
What you'll do:
Database Management and Administration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop databases.
- Create and optimize physical data structures, including device allocations, security, and access methods.
- Implement backup, availability, and recovery strategies.
- Configure and manage development, test, and production environments with change control procedures.
- Independently manage multiple application databases across various platforms.
- Set and enforce standards for monitoring transaction volumes, space utilization, index efficiency, and throughput.
- Work with Systems Administration to plan, test, and implement software releases.
- Provide on-call and after-hours support for production databases.
- Offer expertise in fine-tuning application programs and processes.
- Develop and recommend data access and database administration standards.
- Evaluate and recommend database management and productivity software.
Training and Leadership:
- Educate team members and Application Developers on database best practices, SQL tuning, and platform optimization configurations.
- Serve as a technical consultant both internally and externally.
- Assist or supervise less-senior Database Analysts.
- Propose, plan, and execute projects to enhance database availability and performance.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve application availability and performance.
- Develop and recommend training programs for application developers.
