This is a Lead DBA position, responsible for supporting the organization’s Postgres, RDS, and DB2 LUW databases and ensuring their performance, availability, and security. The Lead is viewed as an expert in the administration and support of database technology. 

The candidate is expected to communicate common goals and direction for the team and also provide superior technical leadership.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Must have experience in managing EnterpriseDB PostgreSQL databases, RDS, EFM, PEM and pgBackRest.

- Experience in managing Amazon RDS and on premise implementation of Postgres.

- Experience in managing AWS CLI options for databases on EC2 and RDS platform.

- Experience with Terraform Cloud, Ansible, Jenkins is required.

- Experience in creating shell scripts (Linux, Python).

- Experience with PL/PGSQL (triggers, functions) is required.

- Experience with latest PG community contrib modules/projects would be plus.

- Experience in implementation of monitoring tools such as Cloudwatch, Nagios, check_postgres.pl modules, splunk.

- Manage lifecycle support of database systems by applying patches, upgrades, and routine database maintenance in an automated fashion.

- Must be able to fix routine issues like startup failures, client connection failures etc.

- Understanding of Postgres database, catalogs, table space, File layout and Physical storage.

- Must have complete understanding of setup, maintenance and replication in PostgreSQL.

- Experience in Postgres backup, restore and point-in-time recovery.

- Must have performance tuning experience.

- Responsible for database design, development and administration of large scale Operational, OLTP

and analytical data structures including logical and physical design.

- Provide SQL performance tuning on both OLTP and Data warehouse environments.

- Provide data migration support from on-premise to public cloud.

- Provide trend analysis to management team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management.

- Partner with offshore DBA resources and thoroughly document processes to ensure successful

implementation by offshore staff and Production Control.

- Provide on-call rotational 24/7 Incident Response to database alerts from production monitoring tools and Command Center personnel.

 - Analyze Key Performance Metrics and make recommendations for improvements.

 - Maintain the integrity of data within the production environment including the execution of

proper backup and restoration policies and procedures which provide point-in-time restore capabilities (disaster recovery).

- Enhance site monitoring to improve availability and performance.

- Perform database capacity planning and trend analysis .

- Deploy database changes in strict accordance with change management policies and procedures.

- Interact and coordinate work with System Administrators, Project Managers and fellow team members to support various project requests.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM KINOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUUIRED:

- Bachelor's degree in CS/MIS or equivalent experience.

- Minimum of 6 years of Postgres database administration experience and production

Support.

- Experience working with very large database partitioning.

- Experience with evaluating and consolidating database workloads to maximize hardware

Resources.

- In-depth knowledge of Postgres utilities.

- Hands on experience with performance tuning of complex SQLs.

- Prefer that the candidate has worked in an onshore/offshore model.

- Candidate must have excellent communication skills.
