Role summary:

The Hogarth team is looking for a skilled Lead Designer to work with a prestigious technology client. They will be responsible for the successful execution of in-region and global curated content that showcase talent in an innovative hands-on events programme which aims to help customers explore their passions and go further with the products they love. The ideal candidate has a natural curiosity for all things related to popular culture and has a deep passion for creative pursuits be that in arts and design, music, film-making, photography or coding. 

The Lead Designer should be a leader within the team and stand out. They will be the first point of contact for project reviews, and will need to provide support to the design team with any questions or concerns related to briefs and tools. They must ensure that the team meets client standards and follows the process, which requires the ability to identify when the team needs training or even provide that training themselves. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead strong, effective design for high frequency, multi-platform content with an emphasis on clean, simple storytelling, art and visual direction.  
  • Brand guardianship of a strong client identity and brand voice.
  • Design systems; respect for templatized creative, but with an ability to adapt and evolve as required. 
  • Executional; hands-on leader, owning delivery of the more complex or high profile campaigns.
  • Key contributor to studio workflow; streamline production for both local and global marketing by helping strategise and templatise production. 
  • Champion design evolution and change throughout the programme by identifying and driving innovative and strategic thought leadership.
  • Concept, design and produce scalable digital marketing assets.
  • Effectively lead, motivate and mentor a small creative studio of junior/mid-level designers, managing outputs and negotiating priorities for the team. 
  • Help scale studio at peak moments, staffing up to delivery against both production and creative centric briefs. 

Requirements:

  • BA or BS degree in Graphic Design, Media Arts or other related field preferred
  • 8 years+ experience in a hands-on, high-volume agency design environment (or equivalent).
  • Deep knowledge of the design process from ideation to production and localisation.
  • A proven track record of editorial storytelling across various mediums and a true commitment to accuracy and quality. 
  • Fluency across graphic design, typography, photography and illustration. 
  • A working knowledge of video production, motion graphics and HTML desired. 
  • Well-versed in social media platforms and up to date on emerging platforms and technology.
  • Ability to rapidly prototype visual design in situation, creating and presenting to both team and client.
  • Possess strong photographic sensibility; editing and retouching. 
  • Understanding and appreciation of how to produce files destined for Content Management systems that must adhere to technical and production design standards.
  • Preferred competency in tools and automation strategies relating to improving workflows.
  • Motivated by a challenging, fast-paced workplace and able to successfully manage team workload in said environment. 
  • Ability to establish rapport and collaborate with local and global teams. 
  • Resourceful, adaptable and results-oriented with high energy and a positive attitude.
