Summary

This position is located in the United States Department Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, National Agricultural Library, Data Production Division, Digitization and Access Branch in Beltsville, MD.

In this position, you will be responsible for serving as the lead for general collection management, access services, and the digitization program. You will provide leadership by developing, maintaining, and communicating collection and digitization priorities, strategy, and roadmap.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

Basic Requirement:
Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree.
OR
A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience. To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.

In addition to meeting the basic requirements described above, applicants must also meet additional qualification requirements as stated below.

Specialized Experience: Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-13 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-12 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience is experience leading library collection management, access services, or digitization activities; providing guidance into the planning, developing, coordinating, and implementing of formal collection management, curation, and preservation library programs; and coordinating team efforts and continuous business process improvement in support of organizational priorities.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
