Magnolia Montessori for All (MFA)is looking for a Lead Special Education Teacherto join our team. Our school is expanding to include 6th-8th grades, which will bring our student body to 720 PK3-8th grade children. With this growth, our successful SPED program will need more support to stay coordinated! Our school is linguistically, racially, culturally, and socio-economically diverse and our Special Education program is an equally vibrant population of diverse learners, representing approximately 12% of our student body. Montessori experience NOT required!

Who You Are:
• An experienced Special Education teacher with SPED certification
• Someone who sees the highest potential for all students and is committed to meeting each child’s unique needs through a broad range of strategies and a willingness to adjust course when necessary.
• A collaborative educator who strives to create a loving and joyful learning experience for all students through support given to general education guides and partnership with families, and related service providers.
• A strong critical thinker who is open to researching answers, thinking outside the box, and questioning the status quo in order to yield optimized outcomes for children within legal and personnel constraints.
• A reflective practitioner who understands the significance of their own background in their work, while fostering deep, meaningful relationships with and among students from linguistically, racially, culturally, and socio-economically diverse backgrounds.
*Must have a U.S. Bachelor’s Degree and a Texas Teaching Credential in Special Education.
What You'll Do:
• Collaborate with students, families, and other school staff to develop IEPs.
• Schedule, plan and implementing ARDs in conjunction with administrators.
• Coordinate the school-wide Response to Intervention program in conjunction with administrators.
• Work with teachers to help them understand IEP modifications.
• Provide push-in and pull-out services as needed to adhere to IEP requirements.
• Coordinate with external contractors related to diagnostic services, speech therapy, etc.
• Collaborate with teachers regarding student behavior management and ensuring compliance with the IEP.
• Maintain frequent communication with students and their families.
• Maintain accurate and complete records.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and other staff.
• Tutor students during intervention time.
• Implement small-groups to strengthen children’s interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
• Assume other duties as they become necessary in a flexible, start-up environment.
