Lead Standards & Alignment Specialist

WHAT IS THE POSITION
The Lead Standards and Alignment Specialist is a thought leader among the standards and alignment team, working cross-functionally to provide research validation of state standards coverage to support the alignment and correlation needs of Edmentum products. The Lead Standards and Alignment Specialist has extensive experience working with metadata from various database sources in various formats and has strong analytical skills in leveraging data to drive product decisions and improve metrics. The Lead Standards and Alignment Specialist contributes to and maintains subject-specific taxonomies and tagging of content and skills.

The Lead Standards and Alignment Specialist may be responsible for oversight of a team of individual contributors, peers, contractors, and/or third party vendor relationships to verify alignment and identify instructional gaps in planned solutions. As such, the Lead Standards and Alignment Specialist maintains standards and alignment training resources and conducts training as needed. Additionally, the Lead Standards and Alignment Specialist facilitates alignment projects and initiatives, establishes and refines alignment processes, documentation, and templates, and collaborates with content and assessment development teams to maintain product quality through the lens of alignment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Serve as a team, project or vendor leader by 
  • overseeing a team of Standards and Alignment Specialists with a focus on resource planning and professional growth; and/or
  • managing third party vendors and contractors; and/or
  • overseeing project work, reviewing the alignments of peers to ensure accuracy and providing feedback and coaching as appropriate
• Establish, refine, and communicate necessary processes and templates as determined by alignment documentation needs
• Develop and maintain standard and skill taxonomy and hierarchy data and collaborate with technology teams, and learning, curriculum, and assessment design experts to refine and improve standard and alignment metadata across organizational systems and databases
• Lead small-scale alignment projects and initiatives
• Communicate cross-functionally and with Product Leadership; escalate issues and blockers as appropriate
• Serve as expert on content and assessment alignment to state and national standards
• Maintain a deep understanding of state standard verbiage and interpretation
• Maintain a deep understanding of connections between state standards and state assessment program blueprints and test designs in order to organize standards accordingly
• Author and maintain training resources; conduct trainings with internal staff as needed
• Provide high-level standards and alignment analyses to support roadmap and curricular decisions
• Collaborate with content and assessment development teams to institute and maintain best practices for quality through the lens of alignment
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within Edmentum Product and Technology to support standard alignment and tagging initiatives
• Research and report on state or national standards, curriculum maps, and/or assessment requirements
• Generate accessible standards documentation to verify product alignment and identify instructional gaps to support partners, including but not limited to, Product Management, Bid Operations, State Programs, and the field
• Understand how to evaluate accessibility of standards for RFP response submissions
• Navigate content platforms and proprietary authoring tools
• Maintain knowledge and familiarity with Edmentum’s products
• Consistently meet assigned deadlines and quality standards
• Organize and prioritize day-to-day workflow, coordinating with other members of the Standards and Alignment team, as well as other teams across Edmentum
• Communicate with teammates and internal partners regarding project status, quality, performance, and general information
• Identify, assess, prioritize, and escalate risks to leadership, while proposing potential solutions
• Maintain communication with leadership about project status
• Additional duties as assigned

WHAT IS REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in education or comparable field; master’s degree preferred
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in EdTech or educational publishing, and 3 years as assessment specialist or standards alignment specialist with exceptional performance required
• Demonstrated excellence in leading projects, and conducting trainings in a virtual environment
• Experience organizing, managing and working with metadata for standards, curriculum, and assessment content in multiple data bases or content management systems
• Experience establishing a team process and creating supporting documentation
• Careful attention to detail and exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills
• Strong creative, critical thinking, and presentation skills
• Excellent research, Internet, and technical skills
• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills
• Positive and high-energy attitude with flexibility and willingness to learn

• Knowledge of standard software (Word, Excel, etc.) and ability to learn new applications
• Basic knowledge of HTML for text formatting, LaTeX for equation formatting, and handling of xml, csv and excel files
