General Summary:

Unum is looking to hire a Test Engineering Lead within the Digital Transformation space. This candidate should have significant experience with Pega systems in an Agile space, ideally serving as a leader in this capacity. This is a key role within the Digital Transformation Team and will be responsible for implementing high-quality, innovative software solutions.

This successful candidate will need to exhibit strong leadership skills, adaptability, and a high degree of market intelligence in the testing field. An understanding of core testing in SaaS, Cloud, and comfortability with programs such as Postman and QTP, and Selenium are key to this role. Additionally, the candidate will need to ingratiate themselves to the organization quickly and exhibit an understanding of the cultural elements from an IT perspective. Further, working with the product organization to find balance and consistency in delivery.

In the first 90 days this individual should expect to skillfully adapt to complex workflows, providing leadership and support across multiple Journeys simultaneously. As a leader this candidate will be able to improve team focus by prioritizing and driving work tasks to help keep balance within the team. They will work to make/identify improvements that will aid the team in standardizing workflows and best practices for tool usage within the organization. This opportunity will provide a successful candidate with a clear onramp to career progression including training, mentorship, and professional enrichment. This position will provide compensation between 73,300.00 - 139,200.00 USD annual total base pay with a 10% annual PBI and a 3.10% Merit plan.

Technical Specifications

  • 4+ years of successful performance in Test Engineer role or equivalent relevant work experience
  • 10+ Years in Non-Functional Testing both as a process management role, as well as a script and execution role non-functional
  • Facilitated Managed Outcome testing processes, deliverables, and relationships across multiple locations and offshore
  • Experience with enterprise release practices, policies, procedures, and corresponding release tools
  • Practical experience in different test disciplines including Regression Testing, Automated Testing, Accessibility Testing, Non-Functional Testing (Performance Testing, Security Testing)
  • Familiarity with Testing Tools related to Automation and/or Performance (Like Microfocus Performance Center, Coded UI, MTM
  • Knowledge on application monitoring tools like HP Application Performance Management
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipeline
  • Test Certifications are preferred (ISTQB certifications, CSM, CSD, CSP)
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred, or relevant technical experience

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring the quality of existing and new features through both manual and automated testing and use of continuous integration techniques where practical
  • Partner closely with the Business Analysts to create acceptance criteria for the user stories. Leverages the acceptance to create tests that can be automated.
  • Partners closely with team members to assist with and help drive test automation through all phases of testing (such as unit, system, integration and regression)
  • Is an advocate for Quality Assurance best practices across the entire team throughout the deliverables
  • Analyzes and reports test activities and results using industry best practices that align with the companies reporting and metrics needs
  • Experience creating test strategies, test plans, test cases, test coverage, and test execution reports to support the Quality Assurance effort in testing features that are part of application and/or solution changes
  • Communicates daily with the Scrum Master or Team Lead and the agile team on progress made and planned progress for the coming day; reports any impediments blocking progress
  • Participates in sizing and estimation activities within the agile team
  • Experience with Automated testing of software to industry standards.

  • Create and maintain appropriate test artifacts for the team (Test Plans, Sprint Plans etc.)
  • May direct the activities of onshore and offshore testing teams and be accountable for ensuring that they adhere to the teams standards
  • Ensures that the latest project progress is known to the agile team by ensuring Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools are up to date and participating in daily standups outlining progress made, progress planned and detailing impediments

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$80,600.00-$153,200.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including performance-based incentives, healthcare benefits, insurance benefits, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not.
