Lead Welder

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Structural Welder/Fabricator with strong stick welding skills and hands-on experience working with heavy gauge materials, structural steel, and fabrication projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise, the ability to read and interpret drawings, and leadership skills to assist supervisors with project execution. Key Responsibilities: • Perform stick welding (7018 rod) on heavy gauge materials including I-beams, tubing, and plate. • Demonstrate strong structural welding experience with the ability to pass vertical and overhead weld tests. • Testing will include cutting and prepping metal, then welding two pieces of plate together. • Operate torch equipment (oxy/acetylene or propane) for cutting and preparation. • Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints. • Fabricate parts to specification per drawing requirements. • Assemble fabricated parts per drawings with precision and attention to detail. • Provide guidance and leadership to others on the team, explaining scope of work as needed. • Assist supervisor with project planning, scope execution, and ordering of materials. • Maintain a safe, efficient, and organized work environment, following company and industry safety standards. • Preferred:Hold a Los Angeles City Welding Certification (D1.1). Qualifications: • Proven experience with stick welding (7018 rod) on structural steel. • Ability to pass vertical and overhead weld test. • Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques and structural assembly. • Proficiency with torch cutting (oxy/acetylene or propane). • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings. • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills. • LA City Welding Cert. D1.1 is a plus. Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods. • Comfortable working in hot, cold, and noisy industrial environments. • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces when necessary.
