CACI has a challenging and exciting opportunity for an experienced Software Systems Engineer to design software interfaces for NASA Lunar Gateway Vehicle Systems Manager (VSM).

This position supports the Artemis Program and requires a motivated, capable person with strong verbal and written communication skills. The individual must share our passion for our Nation's Space Program and share in the excitement of developing the next human-rated space vehicles. In addition to outstanding technical expertise, the individual must have strong customer relationship skills, possess a positive team-player attitude, be flexible and willing to take on new assignments and responsibilities as they arise, and be an articulate speaker able to communicate complex technical ideas in a convincing manner.

More About the Role:

Job responsibilities include:

  • Analyze functional interactions between the Lunar Gateway VSM and lower-tier Module Systems Managers (MSMs)
  • Define and document command and data flows to integrate VSM and MSMs
  • Review, help mature, and validate the integrated Systems Modeling Language (SysML) model.
  • Maintain the VSM-to-MSM Interface Control Document (ICD).
  • Provide input to software architecture and design artifacts.
  • Provide support to the Lunar Gateway Mission Management Working Group (MMWG) in defining tasks and constraints that require VMS-MSM interaction.
  • Interface with various stakeholders including the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD) and development teams.
  • Collaborate with domestic and international Gateway partners.

This work takes place at NASA/JSC in Houston, TX, a highly stimulating and dynamic environment that is critical in human space flight and the space exploration initiative.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident to facilitate access to USG facilities.
  • B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Software, Computer, or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.
  • At least 3 years of software systems engineering experience.
  • Experience defining and implementing distributed avionics and software systems.
  • Experience defining and documenting interfaces between software applications.
  • Experience developing/maintaining software architecture and design artifacts
  • Experience with EITHER:
  • Autonomous or remotely controlled systems (e.g., used in satellites, autonomous cars, or unmanned aerial vehicles), OR
  • Avionics and flight software development for human-rated space vehicles, e.g., Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Commercial Crew Vehicles, or Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle.
  • Evidence of success in fast-paced, collaborative projects/environments.
  • Flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
  • Responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
  • Well-developed coordination and organization skills.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Software, Computer, or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • SysML experience.
  • DOORS (or similar requirements management tool) experience.
  • Experience with data driven software systems.
  • Use case development experience.
  • Strong background in software development, particularly in the front part of the lifecycle.
  • Experience with Agile software development environments and methodologies.
  • Experience with distributed systems.
  • Experience in the full life cycle of human-rated space vehicle flight projects. Space Shuttle, International Space Station, Commercial Crew Vehicles, or Orion.
