JB2U Storage Solutions, Inc. (B2U) is the leading provider of large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) utilizing 2nd life OEM EV battery packs. B2U’s patented energy storage systems are interconnected to the grid, selling energy and grid services into wholesale markets. B2U’s energy storage systems have been operational since 2020. B2U’s second grid connected energy storage system has been operational since November 2023. A third facility is now being converted from PV only to a hybrid storage facility. Additional energy storage systems for B2U’s own portfolio and for customers are in development. Job Description B2U is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to support the company’s battery analytics, system optimization, and AI-driven safety initiatives. The ideal candidate will apply advanced data science and machine learning techniques to improve system performance, reliability, and predictive insights across our energy storage assets. Responsibilities: · Develop and deploy machine learning models to predict battery degradation, state of charge, and safety conditions using large datasets. Analyze and process high-frequency time series data to identify operational trends and safety risks. Build data pipelines and validation frameworks to ensure high-quality, scalable model deployment. · Collaborate with hardware, software, and operations teams to implement AI-driven insights into real-world control systems. · Design data infrastructure and tools to support continuous model training and improvement.· Leverage statistical analysis to evaluate model performance and guide data collection priorities. Qualifications Required: · Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. · Deep understanding of statistics and strong mathematical skills. · Proficiency in Python and related ML/data frameworks (e.g., Pandas, TensorFlow, PyTorch). · Experience creating, validating, and deploying ML models using large datasets. · Experience with Apache Spark for distributed data processing. · Familiarity with SQL and Delta Tables.· Exposure to data collection from REST APIs. · Understanding of battery systems, power electronics, or energy storage systems.
