The Global Product & RD team is building up core TikTok products to ensure TikTok continuous growth, deliver the best product experience to all of our users, build the most attractive features to help users enjoy their time on TikTok, earn trust in privacy protection, and more.

We're looking for innovative Machine Learning Engineers to join our TikTok Ads Core team. Our team is a platform team that develops state-of-art ad technologies, including ranking, retrieval, targeting, bidding, auction, etc. You will be part of a team that's optimizing ads format and ranking strategies, and you will be responsible for bringing a better return on investment for advertisers.

Online Assessment
Candidates who pass resume evaluation will be invited to participate in TikTok's technical online assessment in HackerRank.

Responsibilities:
- Build highly scalable machine learning systems/models to improve ads ranking results.
- Explore, develop and experiment with new features to improve model accuracy.
- Understand ad platform objectives and take full advantage of modern machine learning to improve ad quality, relevancy, and select the best ad formats delivered to end-users.
- Develop robust core systems and algorithms, including ads format selection system, ads ranking system, model serving system, etc.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate with a background in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
- Solid programming skills, proficient in C/C++ and Python. Familiar with basic data structure and algorithms. Familiar with Linux development environment.
- Good analytical thinking capability. Have essential knowledge and skills in statistics.
- Good theoretical grounding in deep learning concepts and techniques.
- Familiar with architecture and implementation of at least one mainstream machine learning programming framework (TensorFlow/Pytorch/MXNet), familiar with its architecture and implementation mechanism.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Good understanding in one of the following domains: ads bidding & auction, ads quality control, and online advertising systems (familiar with one or more of these terms: CPC/CPM, CTR/CVR, Ranking /Targeting, Conversion/Budget, Campaign/Creative)

Job Information

[For Pay Transparency] Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $165000 - $260000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
