We are currently seeking a Machine Operator to join our skilled night shift team (2:30 PM to 1:00 AM Monday through Thursday) at our Jacksonville, FL facility. This advanced-level position within the Machine Shop requires the ability to independently set up and operate a variety of machinery with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in operating saws, burn tables, and performing layout work. Responsibilities include equipment operation, material preparation, and active participation in maintaining workflow efficiency and adherence to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Independently and efficiently operate saws, burn tables, and layout machinery
• Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment
• Replace saw blades and consumables as necessary
• Load programs and square heads on burn tables
• Accurately measure and identify materials utilizing tape measures, squares, calipers, and micrometers
• Operate handheld torch and plasma cutting tools
• Appropriately label materials when received or returned to inventory
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely
• Use hand tools such as grinders, wrenches, and band cutters
• Follow written and verbal instructions effectively
• Assist with grinding operations and preparing materials for further processing
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
• Train colleagues on equipment operation and procedures
• Adhere to company safety policies and quality standards; utilize correct PPE
• Perform additional duties as assigned
Competencies:
• Obtain Overhead Crane Certification within first three months
• Obtain Forklift Certification within first three months
• Complete training in proper lifting techniques
• Demonstrate familiarity with measuring instruments (tape measures, squares, calipers, micrometers)
• Proficient use of hand tools, forklifts, grinders, lifting devices, and overhead cranes
• Manual dexterity for assembly tasks
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Experience using hand tools, forklifts, grinders, and lifting devices
• Familiarity with blueprint reading and quality inspection processes
• Previous experience operating saws, burn tables, and performing layout work
