ABOUT THE JOB

Machine Vision Development Engineering position where you will be part of a fun, collaborative, innovative team. Gentex is an industry leader in Machine Vision with a proven track record of world class levels of Automation. This position offers the opportunity to develop software solutions in .NET, to work with imaging hardware (cameras, lenses, lighting), to collaborate with controls and robotics engineers, and much more.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

Develop and implement world class machine vision systems to automate manufacturing processes, improve product quality, and reduce total manufacturing costs.

 

This is a hybrid position. Development engineers need to live within commuting distance of Zeeland, Michigan, but work from home as their workload allows.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Be part of a highly collaborative, innovative team that implements vision systems throughout all Gentex’s manufacturing operations.
  • Lead the design of vision systems, including the specification of imaging components, illumination, and PC hardware.
  • Create machine vision algorithms for product quality inspection, process control, and manufacturing automation.
  • Implement deep learning-based vision solutions.
  • Develop and maintain production machine vision software.
  • Own the launch and debug of new on-line and off-line vision systems.
  • Leverage machine vision expertise to aid in the development of manufacturing processes for new products.
  • Provide advanced manufacturing support for new and existing on-line vision systems, potentially being involved in decisions regarding quality of shippable product.

  • Plan and coordinate the installation, testing, operation, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
  • Take on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.

  • Promote and maintain high standards of work, looking for ways to improve products and services, while encouraging coworkers to do so as well.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Four-year engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following areas: software development, machine/computer vision, or industrial controls.
  • Proven creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

WHAT WILL HELP

  • Ability to program in .NET Framework (C#,C++, VB).
  • Experience with MVTec Halcon or OpenCV.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend and apply new technology.
  • Demonstrated hands on aptitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to fix a problem before it happens. Predisposition to get involved.
