GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The machine shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations at MASS Precision. This role includes managing a team ensuring production schedules are met, maintaining quality standards, and implementing safety procedures. The supervisor must have extensive knowledge of all machining processes, materials, and equipment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage and lead a team of machinists.
• Assign tasks and oversee the daily activities of the team.
• Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, expectations, and safety protocols.
• Provide training and mentorship to team members.
• Plan and schedule production runs to meet deadlines and customer specifications.
• Monitor workflow and adjust schedules as necessary to optimize efficiency.
• Ensure all products meet quality standards and specifications.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth production processes.
• Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Implement and maintain quality control processes and procedures.
• Address any quality issues promptly and implement corrective actions.
• Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
• Address any safety concerns promptly and effectively.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of fabrication equipment and tools.
• Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure equipment is in good working condition.
• Identify and recommend new equipment and tools to improve efficiency and quality.
• Identify areas for improvement in the fabrication process.
• Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in sheet metal fabrication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years experience working as a machinist, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
• Strong knowledge of machining including but not limited to. Turning, milling 3-5 axis, mill turn, screw machine, EDM, grinding, stamping, fixturing, inspection.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in using fabrication equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
