Machinist - Grind Cell- 2nd shift

Job Description Summary

The Machinist (CNC) will be responsible for setup, programming, and operation of horizontal & vertical grinding machines used to overhaul industrial turbine rotors/vanes/nozzle assemblies.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Precision measurement and handling of aeroderivative gas turbine components, adhering strictly to manuals, specifications, and quality standards.

• Setup and operate 4/5 axis CNC Danobat Grinding machines

• Skilled in the modification, operation, and programming of CNC and CMM.

• Expertise in interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T) for accurate machining.

• Responsible for inputting machining parameters, programming part programs, and ensuring machine adjustments for optimal performance and quality output.

• Vigilant in maintaining machine setup and functionality, promptly addressing any deviations or issues and generating Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) as necessary.

• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on machine shop equipment, including disassembly and replacement of defective parts.

• Utilize a wide array of precision tools to achieve specified tolerances, ensuring high-quality production.

• Safely transport parts using material-moving equipment such as forklifts and cranes, following all safety protocols.

• Take ownership of compliance, safety, quality, and productivity within the machine shop area.

• Provide support in the assembly and disassembly of turbine engines and modules as required.

• Act as a change agent to contribute to process improvement initiatives.

• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints.

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Machinist.

• High School Diploma/GED.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting product specifications, blueprints, and performing mathematical calculations.

• Be able to be certified in operating overhead cranes and forklifts.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English.

• Able to lift, push, and pull at least 40 lbs

Desired Characteristics:

• Minimum of 3 years of prior experience in turbine engine or module assembly/disassembly.

• Proficiency in computer literacy.

• Ability to utilize CAD/CAM software for program conversion.

• Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Extensive experience in CNC operation, drilling, tapping, milling, grinding, quality control, and safety.

• Expertise in using precision measuring equipment to achieve high accuracies.

• Knowledge of hydraulic and basic electrical systems.
