Machinist, Mill Set-up/Operator

Vast is looking for a CNC Mill Machinist, Set-up/Operator to support the machining and development of our products: E-2 Engine, Orbiter, and Haven-1. In this role you will manufacture parts from billet material and additively manufactured hardware. Vast utilizes 3 and 5 axis mills, Gantry Mills, and manual mills.

Shift hours are as follows:

• First Shift: 6AM-3:30PM
• Second Shift: 3PM-12:30AM

Responsibilities:

• Run up to 2 machines simultaneously
• Deburr all parts to ensure quality parts
• Check parts that are running according to the in-process inspection plan, including optical comparator, caliper, and micrometer
• Cut material when necessary
• Take out chips and clean machines 
• Communicate with leads and/or supervisor when parts exhibit quality issues or concerns
• Ability to set up machines and run initial programs
• Procure tooling necessary for jobs
• Understand speeds and feeds
• Maintain the machine, custom tooling & fixtures
• Perform first article inspection
• Effectively work as a team and pass on workload to the following shift
• Clean and maintain machines

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years of CNC machining experience
• 3+ years working with CNC machines with HAAS and Fanuc controls
• High school diploma or equivalency certificate

Preferred Skills and Experiences:

• Working knowledge of GD&T
• Familiarity with inspection tools
• Knowledge of Gcode
• Strong Mechanical aptitude
• Ability to deburr all parts to ensure quality parts
• Strong oral and written communication
• College or Trade school certificate
• Working with AM parts
