Job Description
We are hiring a Maintenance Technician - Electrical and Instrumentation for a high-volume union manufacturing facility in Chicago that produces food products. This role focuses on advanced electrical troubleshooting, PLC systems, and instrumentation calibration. You will be joining a large, well-established corporation with strong pay, benefits, and advancement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
As an Instrumentation Technician, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Repair complex electrical equipment, including automated machines, control panels, relays, circuit breakers, communication systems, and alarms.
• Install electrical equipment with minimal supervision.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, and detect defective control modules.
• Perform complex wiring assignments; install power, light, electronic, and control circuits.
• Provide technical assistance to lower-level maintenance electricians.
• Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and Foxboro systems.
• Calibrate sensors for temperature, pressure, level, and input readings.
• Troubleshoot VFDs, motors, and control interlocks.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and company policies.
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED equivalent and completion of formal apprenticeship or equivalent training (required).
• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in industrial maintenance with a strong electrical focus.
• Proven PLC troubleshooting skills (PLC programming experience preferred).
• Control panel installation experience.
• Knowledge of VFD fundamentals, operation, and protocols.
• Ability to wire and test 3-phase motors.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and isolating problems in complex systems.
• Industrial/manufacturing background required.
Nice-to-Have Skills
• PLC programming (beyond troubleshooting)
• Additional control panel design/build experience
• Foxboro DCS familiarity
