Summary

This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Library Buildings and Grounds, Facilities Operations Division, Maintenance Branch. The Maintenance Mechanic performs a mixture of electrical, plumbing, heating and air conditioning work of buildings and facilities. The work includes, but not limited to corrective and/or preventative maintenance, repair and installation of commercial/industrial air condition and heating systems, plumbing systems and electrical systems.

“To be employed by the Architect of the Capitol in a paid position, an individual must meet one of the categories below:

  • A citizen of the United States;

Ability to perform Maintenance Mechanic duties and responsibilities without more than normal supervision to include:

  • Applying a variety of trade practices (e.g., electrical, pipefitting, plumbing, HVAC repair) to plan, layout and complete the installation, modification, and repair of facility equipment. 
  • Working from mechanical, electrical and structural drawings and blueprints. 
  • Troubleshooting, testing, and installing electrical circuits, controls, and components.
