This role performs a variety of cleaning and janitorial duties to ensure our school buildings are kept clean, disinfected, and organized. This role provides high quality customer service to all internal clients. This role will directly report to the Director of Facilities with a dotted line to the program Site Director.
EDUCATION and CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Educational Background:High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Experience:A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience or demonstrated practical experience in a similar role.
• Technical Skills:Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry is highly desirable.
• Software Proficiency:Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Communication & Teamwork:Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Adhere to the daily Maintenance Checklist specific to the site and assigned schedule.
• Supervise snow and ice removal from parking lots, entrances, and sidewalks to ensure the safety of visitors, students, families, pedestrians, and vehicles.
• Monitor the proper functioning of all equipment and coordinate with management for timely maintenance and repairs.
• Oversee the operation of HVAC and boiler systems, performing required tests and maintaining accurate logs to ensure compliance.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are securely stored and well-organized.
• Participate in special facility projects related to events and other unique requirements.
• Collaborate with the Site Director and Director of Facilities to plan and execute ongoing building maintenance and improvement initiatives.
• Contribute suggestions and ideas to the Director of Facilities for potential upgrades or modifications to classrooms and other building areas.
• Remove trash daily from classrooms, offices, meeting rooms, kitchen, restrooms, indoor play areas, and outdoor playgrounds.
• Perform daily sweeping and mopping of floors in classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, kitchens, and other designated areas.
• Follow the established schedule for floor stripping and waxing as needed.
• Vacuum carpeted areas and rugs daily to maintain cleanliness.
• Adhere to the cleaning schedule for rinsing and refreshing carpets and rugs as required.
• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the building’s exterior and surrounding areas.
• Replenish soap, paper towels, tissues, and other consumables in classrooms, restrooms, and kitchens daily.
• Set up and take down equipment as needed for meetings and events.
• Submit requests for cleaning supply replenishment to the Director of Facilities as necessary.
• Dust and polish furniture, surfaces, and other school areas to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
• Safely store cleaning materials out of children’s reach.
• Thoroughly clean and disinfect bathrooms, including toilet seats, washroom floors, sinks, and other fixtures.
• Ensure the building’s interior and exterior remain clean and well-maintained at all times.
• Sweep outdoor areas and remove debris and trash to maintain cleanliness.
• Pick up and transport items and equipment as needed.
• Conduct a safety and compliance walk-through of the building and playgrounds at the start of each shift.
• Complete the facilities checklist and ensure all required compliance logs are up to date.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Physical & Working Condition Requirements:
The physical demands outlined here reflect the requirements necessary for an employee to perform effectively in this role. Employees will regularly need to communicate in English, both in person and over the telephone. Proficiency in reading English is essential. Frequent operation of a word-processing system is required, including the ability to read, produce, and transmit data effectively.
The role involves frequent standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, and occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees should be capable of lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 20 pounds on occasion. Additionally, specific vision requirements include the ability to see close range.
