You will serve as a Maintenance Worker at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC, which is dedicated to recruiting the best young men and women possible, training and transforming them and making/sustaining Marines imbued with our core values and the ideal of selfless service to the nation. The duty station is Parris Island, SC.

Conditions of Employment
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to perform occasional travel.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You must be able to distinguish colors and shades of colors.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to lift up to 40 lbs.
- You may be required work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- You will be required to work on ladders and scaffolding.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driverβs license.
- You must obtain and maintain a South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control approved certificate as an Asbestos Operations and Maintenance worker.
- You may be exposed to fumes and toxic odors from paints, thinners, and other chemicals.
- This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
- This position may require you to perform rotating shift work.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to perform the duties of a Maintenance Worker as demonstrated by experience working under close supervision performing the work of the carpentry and painting trades including the following; Measuring, cutting, and constructing or repairing wooden items such as scaffolds, bins, pallets, concrete forms, countertops, and cabinets; Preparing surfaces for painting by sanding, scraping, chipping, wire brushing, etc.; Mixing, thinning, and stirring coating materials; Applying various coating materials such as lacquers, enamels, epoxies, polyurethane by brushing, rolling, and/or spraying.
