Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Service Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is located at Lower Granite Natural Resources Office, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and situated in Clarkston, Washington.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Pre-employment Physical Required.
- Pre-employment Drug Test Required.
- Position may be filled for either the Day Shift (6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ) or Night Shift (10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.).
- Valid state driver's license required.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to75 lbs.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
Qualifications
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) MAINTENANCE WORKER HELPER ~ without more than normal supervision. Must be able to perform the majority of the following routine duties, working from easily understood written and oral directions: carpentry, painting, plumbing, metal work, concrete work, mechanical maintenance and grounds keeping for grounds, structures, fixtures, utilities and equipment, without more than normal supervision. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort: The incumbent normally works on project recreation and wildlife area facilities and equipment requiring considerable standing, stooping, bending, walking, and reaching. May perform work on ladders and scaffolds that requires overhead reaching. The work requires the lifting of materials, tools, and equipment that weigh up to 75 pounds.
- Working Conditions: Majority of work is performed outside with exposure to a variety of weather and temperature extremes. Some tasks may be performed inside. There is exposure to potential insect and snakebite. Is subject to cuts and bruises common to users of hand and power tools. May be subject to strain from lifting or carrying heavy tools or equipment. Is exposed to traffic hazards while driving on both improved and unimproved road surfaces.
