Job Description
St. Bernard Hospital is searching for a Maintenance Worker (Plumber) who can perform a wide range of projects, including general repairs and preventive maintenance tasks according to established procedures. The candidate should possess the qualities for testing, repairing, and maintaining all plumbing systems throughout the hospital.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution.(Required)
• Trade school graduate or equivalent.(Preferred)
Experience:
• Minimum of three (3) years of plumbing maintenance experience.(Required)
• Apprenticeship in plumbing.(Preferred)
Responsibility Highlights:
• Perform plumbing preventative maintenance work and provide corrective plumbing repair work for hospital departments including off-site clinics and medical buildings.
• Troubleshoot and rebuild pumps and repair valves and temperature controls.
• Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.
• Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.
• Fill pipes and plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
• Assemble pipe sections, tubing, and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering, brazing, and welding equipment.
• Repair pipe assemblies, fittings, values, appliances, water heaters, and fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools.
• Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools.
• Review blueprints and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures.
• Train or provide guidance to Maintenance Workers concerning plumbing issues.
• Maintain inventory of plumbing supplies.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $31.20 per hour
